This website – or blog – is the public record of one family’s pursuit of education – without attending an institutional school.
School is a place. Learning is a verb, a natural part of life for a child. Everyday brings opportunities to learn new things. How to bake a new recipe. What makes a computer work. What is a snow flake. How to write a letter. How to love each other. The list goes on-and-on with the possibilities for the person given the freedom and encouragement to tackle what he or she wants to learn and discover.
We can learn at home among those who love us the most.
About the author
Monica Brand is a mother on a mission to raise her four children into passionate, caring and adventurous adults within the nurturing environment of home, and without attending public or private schools. This is her sixth year of official home education.
Monica and her husband serve on the leadership team with a local support group for Christian home schooling families. They are active in their local church, serving in various leadership roles and ministries since 1998. They will celebrate 13 years of marriage this fall.
When not writing about home schooling, Monica enjoys reading, hiking, traveling and good coffee close to home.
